Smooth-Jazz Saxophonist Lisella Martin was born and built in the city of East St. Louis, Illinois where she began singing, playing piano, clarinet and saxophone at an early age. Her degree led to a career in education where she served as a classroom teacher and a vocal music specialist. Before retiring from teaching, Lisella founded the band M.L.O. Soul (Music Lovers Only) based on the philosophy that good music is simply good music with melodies that reach a diverse intersection of people beyond the restrictions of genre and generation.
Lisella has been performing steadily as a headliner at a variety of private and public events with a musical tone that has been compared to that of Grover Washington, Jr. as she serves up delicious tunes with a smooth, sultry, soul, jazz flavor.
